How that has changed!…for the worse in my opinion. These days teachers are not only disempowered and subject to abuse from kids, but they also have to daily negotiate with parents who think the school exists solely to cater to their children.
I might say there were a number of things occurring back in the late fifties and early sixties that would later have been outside the pale, but a bit of latitude for professionals is not necessarily a bad thing. Who would legislate the every move of a trained person in any other job?
