I have tried to put myself as a 14 year old in the situations that you so vividly describe. I had the slipper a few times at school from the PE staff and it hurt like hell. Consequently, I did my best to avoid it.
If I had attended King’s school during the period you were there I’m not sure how I would have coped. For me there would have been a mixture of fear and despair.If I knew that I was in for a sound slippering I would have found sleeping difficult the night before particularly if the sentence was more than 6 strokes.
