“If I had attended King’s school during the period you were there I’m not sure how I would have coped. For me, there would have been a mixture of fear and despair. If I knew that I was in for a sound slippering I would have found sleeping difficult the night before particularly if the sentence was more than 6 strokes.I would have been consumed with fear watching a boy have his bottom soundly whacked knowing that I was next in line.
I guess it was a sort of relief once the punishment had been carried out but having to sit through a lesson with a throbbing backside knowing that there may be some in store later in the day must have been dreadful.’
