how would you say that a caning from Ms Joan Thomas of the Rodney School fame compare in severity to lets say a caning from Anthony Chenevix-Trench the one time Eaton Headmaster?
What brought this question about was that I was reading,whith more than a little doubt I might add,that Ms Thomas supposedly gave a girl 8 strokes of the cane across her bottom that was only clad in lightweight PE shorts.
Now that to me,by any standards,is a pretty severe caning to say the least and I would immagine that a Senior schoolboy would experience great difficulty in taking an equivelent caning with any kind of composure and he most certainly would’nt suffer it in silence!-and not to mention the luxury of two layers of clothing between his bottom and the cane-three if if his shirt tails are left in place.
