Truancy was a big problem and During the war, we had no truancy officers or what were called in 1950 the school board man
For the rest of the time up to lunch at 12.15, I had to fill out forms for the hours teachers had worked so they could get paid. This was done once a week as was the request for school stock. Every day a return had to be made stating how many boys I had admitted or removed from the roll along with the number absent. These were collected by the office during lunch.
Of course, this plan could be interrupted by any number of things, and any paper work not finished would have to be done after school. Paperwork always had to be completed for the day before I left school that night.
