Can you imagine today’s US press suppressing FDR’s confinement to a wheelchair, or, in my lifetime, ignoring completely JFK’s various couplings-it’s one thing to be the man every American woman wanted to be shafted by, it’s quite another never to shirk your duty and try to keep the customer satisfied on that one!!
And can you imagine our lot ignoring Dorothy MacMillans’ life-long affair with AC/DC Tory MP Bob Boothby, or the fact that for the last 18 months of his Prime Ministership Churchill was totally incapacitated by a huge stroke?
