I caned three girls – and I became aware of particular feelings I didn’t have when caning boys. However, I only caned them because I believed what they had done warranted such punishment, it was the same punishment a boy would have received. I did it because I felt it was my job.

And I’d have done it again, if another situation had developed in which a girl I was authorised to cane had done something to deserve a caning, and where a boy would have been caned in the same situation.

Because I believe that it’s a teacher’s duty to do what they honesty and sincerely believe to be in the best interests of the children they are teaching regardless of how it makes the teacher feel.

What matters is what you do – not how you feel about it.
