I was first strapped on the hand at school aged 7 (VERY painful and unfair) and several times more until age 12. It was never fun and I never got six.
I was first caned on the bottom at school aged 13 (Very painful but fair and remarkably lacking in trauma) and a few times subsequently. The gap between punishments was long and the circumstances of the punishment very different so it is very hard to compare.
I saw a classmate aged 10 strapped on the backside with a strap as usually applied to the hands. He didn’t like it and responded more than was customary for hand strapping.
