There would be a reaction and then “Again!” The hands would be raised again, usually with the other hand being placed on top. Again the belt would swing, the class would clearly hear the loud crack of leather striking palm as the tails made contact. “Back to your desk!” The pupil would walk back up the aisle and slump down in his seat, sullen faced and with two hands throbbing with extreme pain. The teacher would return his belt to his desk drawer and the lesson would recommence. Total time taken? Probably less than 30 seconds. Remarkable in its efficiency and effectiveness, and no paperwork required!
