I think that type of teaching is a 150 years out of date, when educators could claim “I am right, because I say I am” totally irrelevant of the facts. I have no qualms about corporal punishment as it was in the past, to keep a rowdy class in order, but it should only be reasonable, and have far more effect on the top end of a pupil than their bottom. And for the general level discipline to be effective overall, the same punishment should be applied to the behaviour of girls as much as boys.
