In summary, I would not be so quick to judge that parents have all this “extra time” to apply endless hours of amateur psychology in order to fix some behavioral issues. They are looking for fast and effective methods to accomplish these goals just like you are, but perhaps different methods. But, for parents who are doing this, I dare say, that as options become limited they simply become willfully blind or blissfully ignorant of anything that requires their decisive intervention. I know people like the latter personally, and clearly see the (negative) results of their unwillingness or inability to put <em>that time and effort into their parental responsibility as you suggest they would do!
