Headmaster faces 5 more charges
Five more charges involving two of his pupils – three of assault, one of indecent assault, and one of inciting a boy to commit an act of gross indecency with him – were brought at Andover Magistrates’ Court, Hampshire, yesterday against a headmaster of a private boarding school. Eight charges now face William Michael Byrd, aged 38, of Cholderton College, near Andover.
He was remanded until March 2 on his own bail of £100, provided he renewed two undertaking he gave at a previous court hearing not to live or teach at the school, and not to influence witnesses. He renewed the undertakings.
