Probably my worst and most painful encounter with the slipper was when I was in the 3rd year in the boy’s grammar school which I attended in the early 60s.It was during a PE lesson and we had been instructed to get changed and make our way into the gym where we were told to do some simple floor exercises.
The previous class had left a couple of footballs out which should have been put away and in a moment of madness I just decided to give one of the balls a hefty kick. At that moment the teacher came into the gym and saw a football flying through the air.
