Parents also keep their children much more occupied with regular sports and activities, as was a generation ago. That’s partly because it’s good for them, and maybe to keep them from being bored and causing trouble, but I believe also to protect them in organized & structured environments. Even simply play has to be managed now as a structured “play date”.
We do the same, four nights a week when soccer is on and at least 2 nights when it’s not. We have often noticed there is no “downtime” – It’s home from school, homework to do, eat, get dressed, off to the sport/activity, come home, snack, bath/change/brush, etc, and off to bed. Further, running my own business is not a 40-hour position, it’s substantially more.
